AK Utd 0 Broadford 3

The girls had a good win in their first of two matches over the weekend last Saturday morning in Askeaton. Our early pressure  was rewarded when Amy slotted home a penalty in the bottom corner. Our midfield of Aoibhin, Aoife, Amy, Erin and Caoimhe were on top after this and Caoimhe and Aoibhin going close to putting us two up. The second goal arrived just before half time as Ellie volleyed home from Amy’s corner.

AK started the second half strong but our defence of Chloe, Aishling, Kayla and Jacqueline were able to keep them at bay. When they managed to get a shot away Ellie Mai proved equal to it. Anna on for the second half went close to making it three before Caoihme, who had been having a great game on the wing hit a rocket which hit the crossbar only for Aoibhin to powerfully volley home the rebound to make it three.

AK tried hard to pull one back but our defence stood up strong and got their first clean sheet of the season.

Match day Squad Ellie Mai O Connor, Kayla Clancy, Aisling Murphy, Chloe Boyce, Jacqueline Leahy, Erin Reidy, Caoimhe Quaid, Aoife Liston, Amy O Kelly, Aoibhin Noonan, Anna Stack, Ellie Curtin.

Dromore 0 Broadford 3

The girls had their second game in three days on Monday against a strong Dromore side and came away with another three points.

After a very even start to the game we went one nil up midway through the first half with Aisling’s marvellous through ball put Amy in on goal and she kept her cool to hit a brilliant shot into the bottom corner. The rest of the first half proved a tight affair and our defence of Ruth, Kayla, Aisling and Jacqueline needed to be on top of their game to ensure we were still ahead at half time.

In the second half the girls fought really hard for the jersey with our midfield of Caoimhe, Emma, Amy, Aoibhin, Anna, Chloe and Aoife all putting in a massive effort. Aoibhin and Amy came close to putting us two up but we got our reward with ten minutes to go. Caoimhe made a great run from half way and put in a super crossed with Ellie powerfully volleyed home into the top corner.

However the game wasn’t over yet and soon after Dromore got a great ball in over the top and their striker got through one and one and hit a powerful shot only for Erin to show cat like reflexes to produce a stunning save to keep the score at two nil.

Ellie made the game safe soon after when she rounded the keeper brilliantly and slotted home into an empty net. Great credit is due to the girls for a second win and clean sheet in three days.

Match day Squad: Erin Reidy, Kayla Clancy, Aisling Murphy, Ruth Daly, Chloe Boyce, Jacqueline Leahy, Emma O Kelly, Caoimhe Quaid, Aoife Liston, Amy O Kelly, Aoibhin Noonan, Anna Stack, Lucy Neenan, Elsa Fahy, Ellie Curtin.

The u14b Broadford girls played Shountrade b  in the league on Monday, Shountrade got off to a flyer and scored 2 early goals . After that the Broadford girls got stuck in and settled.  Eve in goals made some great saves and the back line of Katie,  Emily , and the two Sarah's,  O Sullivan and Barrett were clearing everything that came their way. Ciera in CDM played great and was very confident on the ball. In midfield Grace , Megan and Lauren Fitzgerald were driving forward and creating plenty chances for themselves and the forwards. Emma and Sophie up front did fantastic and had a nice few shots on target but it was Megan who  got one back for Broadford with a great individual run and equally great finish. With a few subs on and other possition changes leanna was in goals and she made some great saves also and communicated well with her back line. Eve now on the right hand side of defence was playing great soccer and nothing got passed her. Lauren Walsh and Caoimhe Greay did great when they came on in the defensive line and they were well able for the high intensity game. Maya went into CDM and had a right good game.  Róisín and kyla went on in midfield and both had a cracking game. Leah and Rebecca also did super when they went on . After going 2 nil down early the Broadford girls showed great Character all over the pitch to bring the game to 2 1 to Shountrade,  the defence instead of putting the heads down were so determined, which drove the midfield on who were absolutely brilliant and the forwards took great confidence from this and had loads of chances but it looked like it was going to be one of does days where you just play great and can't find the net. When it looked like a win for the away team Sophie made a driving run at the Shountrade defence and smashed the ball into the back of the net to bring the game level at 2 all. The final whistle went and the spoils were shared. Fair play to our girls who stuck with it and never gave up ,to get a much deserved draw. Well done to all involved .

SFAI SUBWAY U12 Boys National Cup Round 2
Regional Utd 1 v Broadford Utd 0 AET

Heartbreaking result for our boys today in Limerick, battled all the way and when penalties looked likely the only way to separate the teams, Regional scoring with last kick of the game deep in extra time to move onto the next round and leave our heroes devastated.

Thank you to boys from the blues/B team who travelled with the team today.

U14 boys national cup
Broadford Utd 2
Listowel Celtic 1

A great victory in the national cup with 2 goals coming from the boot of Alex O'Connor. Broadford started the brightest with some early pressure but slowly Listowel started to get a grip in the game before Alex got on the end of a fine through ball from James Madden to finish with a low shot into the net. Both sides missed good chances to add to the score line before the half time whistle.
Listowel came out of the blocks and equalised less than a minute after the restart and created another good chance before Broadford got going again creating chances with some good combination play their own. The winning goal coming soon after with an excellent assist from Darragh O'Reilly from the left finding Alex O'Connor who expertly rounded the keeper before a fine finish to win the game. Broadford withstood some late pressure with stand-in goalkeeper Evan Noonan playing superb throughout.

14 Boys Div 1
Breska A 3
Broadford Utd A 3
After a very slow start Broadford found themselves 2 down inside 15 mins before they rallied and started to impose themselves on the game. Despite creating some half chances they couldn't apply the final touch before Breska took their next chance making at 3-0 at half time.
Despite the score line Broadford knew they were still in the game and showed great heart and determination to come straight out of the blocks to camp themselves in the final third. Cian O'Donovan stepped out of defense numerous times to great affect and on one such occasion rattled the cross bar with the keeper beaten from all of 40 yards. A few minutes later they got the goal their play deserved direct from a Dylan Conway corner. Still dominating the play with some great combinations down the left Broadford were awarded a penalty after a handball with Alex O'Connor finishing coolly from the spot. The well deserved equaliser followed with less than 10 minutes remaining when Diarmait Barrett created and finished his own chances with some determined running after the keeper saved his initial header. At this point the game evened out with a draw a fair result.
