Our u12 A girls faced into the season with a daunting task away to a strong Ballingarry team last Wednesday evening. Conditions for football were pristine on a sunny September eve. Our girls were trying hard in the early exchanges with a number of shots being kept out by the crossbar, uprights, and a busy keeper! On the stroke of halftime, we conceded our 1st goal. Heading into the second half a goal down didn't stop the girls from giving it their all with their equaliser coming promptly at the restart. Heads high, they went on to take the lead some 10 minutes unto the second half. Ballingarry, not shaken, worked hard to draw the game with 10 to go. The closing stages were full of excitement with our girls securing the winning goal with minutes to go to make it a 3 2 win.. Our squad all worked hard for their 1st win of the season, Aoibheann Noonan, Abbey Mackessy, Alannah Brosnan,Mya White, Clare Madden, Shauna White, Anna Stack, Katie O'Connor, Holly Boyce, Lucie Cussen, Saoirse Barry, Sorcha O'Donovan & Nicole Dore.
Saturday morning saw the visit of Abbeyfeale United to Cove Park,Broadford, to take on our U12 A girls in their second game of the week. The pitch and the weather were in great condition, making for a thrilling game. Broadford started strong, going 2 up halfway through the first half . To their credit, Abbeyfeale had levelled by the half-time whistle, setting it up for an edgy second half. Broadford took the lead again well into the second half, with Abbeyfeale quickly responding to level the game 3-3 with ten minutes to go. Abbeyfeale applied great pressure in the closing stages, and Broadford defence proved up to the task. A sweeping move from the defence through our hardworking midfield to our attack was timed well to close out the win with minutes to go. A great win for the Broadford Aoibheann Noonan, Abbey Mackessy, Alannah Brosnan, Mya White, Sorcha O'Donovan, Lucie Cussen, Nicole Dore, Saoirse Barry, Shauna White, Claire Madden,Holly Boyce & Anna Stack .
